Lynne Takes The Spotlight!
|
|
|
|
Not by
choice, but by circumstance,
Lynne is thrust into the spotlight
and she shows that a mother-of-five
can keep up with the guitar-toting
car dealer!

Lynne
started making commercials with her car-dealin’ husband went he went
head-over-heels in a motocross motorcycle wreck. While his two broken
wrists were healing, Lynne decided to take a shot at the TV spots. Her
first commercial was Jeepers-Cheapers in 1991. The fan mail poured in
and soon she was producing yet another classic, “Ting-Tang, gotta have
a Mustang” for the growing dealership.

As if Lynne didn't’t have enough
to do, with FIVE kids at home and an
ailing husband, now she had the demands
of creating, producing and starring
in the commercials!

She seemed to catch on pretty quick, and soon, she allowed Fred a cameo in some of her spots. When Lynne wrote the classic “Thunderbird” spot, Fred appeared just enough to
get slammed into the trunk of the ‘92 T-bird. It
was as though the team of Fred and Lynne had found their fans
appreciated Fred being the comic relief, and Lynne being the beauty in
the spots!

They
were applauded for their many award-winning TV commercials and even
decorated locally as “Columbus-Icons.” Both Fred and Lynne chuckle at
this because they agree that they are having a lot of fun doing what
they enjoy!

Lynne
continued writing new spots and had a big hit with “Mr. Vanman” because
for the first time, she begs Fred not to sing! In this commercial,
Lynne wrote Fred in as a magical, flying character, wearing a
white-tuxedo, that would sprinkle magic dust on your worn-out old
vehicle and it became a beautiful conversion van! Lynne’s creation resulted in an
astonishing 28% sales growth for Vanland!

Fred
attempted a few solo spots, and as entertaining as they were,
fan-letters still pleaded for Lynne’s return. So Lynne, still busy with
all of her children, agreed to help write and produce the TV
commercials. Occasionally, Lynne would show up in the final broadcast
piece as a cameo.

Albeit
short phrases or small appearances, Lynne showed up to sweetly yell
“Mama-Mia” in the 1992 version of “Rockin’ Columbus.” This spot was
actually filmed on the deck of the replica Santa Maria ship which still
sits in the Scioto River in downtown Columbus, Ohio. Lynne also helped
to create the costumes and she directed much of the choreography on
this and clever tie-in to the 500 year celebration of Columbus’
discovery of the “New World.” |

Through
the years, many television spots have been produced by Lynne and her
husband Fred, and even more have been written but not produced! Some
of the more memorable ones include “The Boogie-Woogie Dealin’ boy of
Rt.33” which was shot at the 94th Aerosquadron restaurant near the
Columbus Airport. Lynne suffered a slight knee-injury while performing
some of the dance moves! Another spot had Lynne
playing a country-style song at a local nightclub to ask “Why you
haven’t stopped in at Ricart.” The crowd was more than receptive to
being involved in a Ricart commercial! They danced and yelled on cue as
the spot was actually shot in just two takes! The dancing continued
after the commercial was shot and the club manager was so excited about
the crowds’ enthusiasm, that he invited the Ricarts’ to shoot a
commercial anytime they wanted! Lynne
continued to play background rolls in classic TV commercials like
“Ricart Junction” and the Olympic series of “Gold Medal Challenge” TV
spots, but her duties as a mother kept her quite busy! Lynne was a
background dancer in the “Flash Back Dealin” spots that featured Fred
as a leather-jacket wearing “greaser” and a garage full of nostalgic
relics surrounding the newly redesigned T-Birds! That is Lynne in the
seat of the Red Ford Thunderbird in the background. Because
of Lynne’s acceptance by the central Ohio residents, she has been
requested to sit on many boards, teams and groups. She has been able to
help many local charities raise money and awareness though her
community services. She has been a spokesperson for local groups and
has produced TV commercials for events in and around Columbus, Ohio.
One of the most
noted events is the Arnold Fitness
Classic, where Lynne shows her “strength” as
a pitch woman!
The most recent TV series Lynne and Fred produced was “The Dealer”
featuring Fred as a celebrity look-a-like. Fred recruited some of the
best celebrity impersonators to help him create yet another fun, goofy
TV commercial! When
asked about the commercials, Lynne says “If you can’t laugh at
yourself, others will, so why not have a blast doing what you can to
laugh first! |
